The Wedding Jeepney
It's the all-purpose vehicle for the 'masa.' As a passenger vehicle. For all sorts of hauling needs: livestock, produce, etc. Above, as a wedding-vehicle in the rural-provincial tradition of "maysan," transporting the groom's entourage - the whole kit and caboodle of family and friends, pots and pans, food and livestock - to the bride's place for the preparations and eventual wedding celebration. This jeep is probably on its way back, possibly with the bride, suggested by the decorative fronds of palm on the side that are already browned and wilted.
Often, this is the only affordable mode of wedding transportation for the rural folks, and not uncommon to see two or three of them decorated with trimmings. The rooftop passengers are illegal. However, in most provincial areas, the police usually just look the other way.
